Lynn Lander receives a Carmel Day Award at the Carmel Day Mass

Community Award: Lynn Lander: Lynn has made, and continues to make, a positive difference, serving on our Proprietor’s Board, Carmel College Auckland Limited, since 2004 and as Chair since November 2013. But her association with the college goes back to last century – 1990s when her daughters went through as students. Lynn works tirelessly for the Carmel community, always making sure that Special Character is to the fore. She is always prepared to stand up and speak out when she sees injustice. We thank you for ‘seeing the need and making a difference’.

On Friday the 29th of June, Lynn Lander (Board Chair, Carmel College Auckland) was presented with a well-deserved Community Award.

After a career in education management at the University of Auckland, Lynn decided to contribute her experience to working with non-profit organisations. Her work as a mentor as part of Women in Leadership (University of Auckland), gave her the robust experience needed to be a woman of mercy. Lynn is also a Board Member of Te Ngākau Waiora Mercy Spirituality Centre in Epsom. The centre has at its core the mercy values of te tapu o te tangata respect for human dignity, aroha compassion, aroha ki te rawa kore concern for the poor and vulnerable, tika justice, manaakitanga hospitality, and mana whakahaere mutual empowerment.

The spirit of mercy as expressed through those core values do indeed represent Lynn’s seeing the need and making a difference.
