Joan Roberts has been with the Sisters of Mercy for 15 years. The Sisters of Mercy McAuley Trust office in New Street celebrated with Joan. In her speech Joan spoke of coming to work every day not because “I need to, but because I want to. It’s part of being in this place, it gets into your bones, you feel like you’re part of a bigger picture”. Joan also recalled that when she first started working in the reception area she was often mistaken for a Sister, “for a while I had to get used to being called Sister!”.

Joan’s warmth and professionalism were a feature when fellow staff members spoke of her contribution and dedication.

In closing her speech, Joan simply said “we’ll celebrate with a lunch for my next 15th year celebration!”. Thank you Joan for making everyone’s life at the New Street Office a pleasure. You embody Catherine McAuley’s ethos of hospitality here and throughout the mercy family with the people you’ve touched over 15 years.
